Bulgaria has offered to help Albania in its rescue efforts after a major earthquake that hit the country on November 25. Interior Minister Mladen Marinov Tuesday told journalists that Bulgaria is ready to send search and rescue teams, dogs, equipment and medical teams, should Albania need it.
Marinov said he had talked with his Albanian counterpart about that. Marinov also said that at present there is no information about Bulgarians hurt in the earthquake. Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, Parliament Chair Tsveta Karayancheva and Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva Tuesday cabled condolences to their Albanian counterparts over the earthquake in the country. In his cable, as quoted by the Government Information Service, Borissov expresses condolences and sympathy for the relatives and friends of the victims. „We share the pain of the Albanian people, we hope for the quick recovery of the affected and quick repairs of the serious material damage. In this difficult moment, we are ready to once again provide the necessary support to friendly Albania,“ Borissov says.
In her cable to Albanian Parliament Speaker Gramoz Ruci, National Assembly Chair Karayancheva says, as quoted by Parliament’s press service: “ I learned with deep concern the news of the injured Albanian citizens and the destruction caused by the earthquake.“ She expresses sincere friendly and humane sympathy for the Albanian people in this difficult moment. She also expresses the hope that the timely and professional actions of the rescue teams and medical services will help rescue people from damaged buildings, and wishes quick recovery to the injured.
„I learned with great sorrow the tragic news of the earthquake that hit your country and caused a tragic loss of human lives, injuries and destruction,“ Zaharieva says in her cable to Albanian Foreign Minister Gent Cakaj, as quoted by her Ministry. She expresses sympathy for the families and friends of the victims, and wishes the injured a quick recovery. „Bulgaria remains ready to support and assist friendly Albania in any possible way,“ the cable reads.
