An exhibition of icons, made by seminarians, was opened on 20.06 in the Sofia Spiritual Seminary. The exhibition is the result of the one-year training in the iconography course conducted by Eleonora Karaivanska (icon painter and muralist), on the initiative and with the blessing of the Rector of the Seminary archim. Pahomi, reported from the spiritual school.
The traditional iconography course is free of charge for the graduates of the Seminary and aims to enrich them with knowledge in the field of Christian art, educating the good taste and correct understanding of the sacred images in Orthodoxy, and also giving them the opportunity to acquire practical skills for making the traditional Byzantine icon.
Eleonora Karaivanska thanked the leadership of the seminary for her opportunity to teach at the school, and the participants in the course of persistence and persistence in the hard work on icons. The teacher said that some of the children had no previous experience in iconography or painting practice but expressed their satisfaction with the good results of their faith and desire to learn.
The exhibition presents icons, pattern of which is the ancient icon of St. John of Rila, which is kept in the Rila Monastery. Archim. Pahomi thanked the teacher and the seminar for the work and good performance and encouraged them to continue to develop in this lean art. At the end, Eleonora Karaivanska gave the students special certificates for their participation in the iconography course at the Sofia Spiritual Seminary. Rector, teacher and students shared their desire to continue the course in the new school year 2018-2019.
