Under the patronage of Holy Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church at the Faculty of Theology of the University of Belgrade is holding a conference on the occasion of the 800th anniversary of the Serbian Orthodox Church’s autocephaly, said our correspondent.
The International Conference is held from 10th to 14th December and is dedicated to the independent autocephalous Serbian Orthodox Church and the eight centuries of its contribution to the history, theology and culture of the Serbian people. More than a hundred prominent Serbian and foreign scholars and academics take part in the scientific event.
At the opening of the conference, His Holiness Patriarch Irinei of Serbia said that the coming year is a great year for the Serbian Orthodox Church, but not only for the Church but also for the entire Serbian people. In his speech, Patriarch Iriney also highlighted the great importance of the work of Sava, who brought the autocephalousness of the Serbian Church.
Dr. Svilen Tutekov from the Orthodox Theological Faculty of Veliko Tarnovo University participated in the conference in Bulgaria.
