For the second consecutive year, the National Baptism will take place in 11 cities – Sofia, Plovdiv, Burgas, Stara Zagora, Veliko Tarnovo, Varna, Blagoevgrad, Vratsa, Rousse, Sliven, Shoumen. The event takes place under the patronage of His Holiness Patriarch Neophyte and the Bulgarian Orthodox Church and marks the finale of „Do It For Bulgaria“ – the campaign of the National Cause for the Promotion of Fertility.
The opening hour of the National Baptism in Sofia, in the „Sophia“ temple, is 10:00 pm Official guests in Sofia will be representatives of Sofia Municipality and the popular ambassadors of the campaign – Neli Hadjiiska, Ivan Hristov, Irina Tencheva, Maria Ilieva , Vlado Nikolov and Uti Bachvarov.
In the metropolitan church of St. Sophia – the Wisdom of God, baptism will be performed by Gerasimq bishop of Melnik.
Last year, a baptism was held for the first time in Bulgaria. Then 1000 children were baptized. The campaign aims to promote the birth rate and population growth in the country.
