During his official visit to Israel, Prime Minister Boyko Borisov met with His Holiness Jerusalem Patriarch Teofil III.
The delegation of Prime participate Western European Metropolitan Anthony, Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev, Minister of Education and Science Krasimir Valchev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Coordinator on Anti-Semitism Georgi Georgiev and mayor of the capital Yordanka Fandakova.
Patriarch Teofil awarded Borisov with the Order of the Knight of Jerusalem for his merits to Orthodoxy. Our Prime Minister was proclaimed the commander of the Order of the Holy Sepulcher by awarding him a golden cross with a golden crown and a star.
Borisov, in turn, told Theofil that Sofia is an example of ethnic tolerance. „Within one square kilometer we have an Orthodox temple, a mosque, a synagogue and a Catholic church,“ the prime minister explained. The Prime Minister thanked the Patriarch of Jerusalem for the opportunity he and the Bulgarian delegation to touch this sacred and enduring place. Boyko Borisov assured the Patriarch that Bulgaria fully supports the Jerusalem Patriarchate in its mission of bringing peace and understanding to the world. „As ambassadors of peace,“ Patriarch Teofil appointed the Bulgarian delegation.
