National Assembly Chairman Tsveta Karayancheva talks with Patriarch of Georgia His Holiness Ilia II during her official visit to the country. Representatives of the Bulgarian parliamentary delegation – the Chairman of the Friendship Group Bulgaria – Georgia Christina Sidorova and the MPs Alexander Ivanov, Yordan Apostolov, Velislava Krasteva and Simeon Naydenov – took part in the meeting.
Tsvetka Karaiancheva expressed the behalf of the Bulgarian parliamentarians with honor and respect for the activities of the Georgian Patriarch and his role as guardian of the Christian values in society. She stressed the valuable contribution of Patriarch Ilia II to the strengthening of Christianity and peace.
Tell the Bulgarian people that God is with you and God will help you, His Holiness Ilia II noted and stressed the very good relations with the Bulgarian Patriarch and the Bulgarian Orthodox Church. He recalled that the Georgian Bakuriani brothers founded the Bachkovo Monastery.
Politicians have to work and solve all important and topical issues in dialogue, on the table of negotiations, and you – the spiritual fathers, to watch over our peoples, stressed Tsveta Karayancheva. The fruitful partnership between the two churches was noted during the meeting, which was historically determined. The Bulgarian Orthodox Church and the Georgian Orthodox Church maintain warm and traditionally good ties, was shared during the conversation. The two confirmed that in the difficult transition years for Bulgaria and Georgia churches have always been a reliance on our peoples.
