The Orthodox documentary „The Holy town – Assenovgrad“ (Stenimahos) is now accessible to every part of the world by youtube, the journalist Angel Bonchev announced who is the author and director of the production. The published version of the film has English subtitles so that it can reach a larger audience in English-speaking countries. You can watch the movie here.
The film was created in 2015 with blessing of His Eminencies +Nikolay mitropolitan of Plovdiv. „The Holy town – Assenovgrad“ was the first and only one film ever presented in the European Parliament in Brussels on May 24-th 2016. The production describe the spirituality preserved during the long history of the hometown of the creators of the film – author Angel Bonchev, editor Emilia Marinova and the editor of montaje Boryana Bukikova-Puncheva. The documentary film includes a big part of the clergy of Asenovgrad, people who felt grace and received the help and support of God in the local temples, the mayor of Asenovgrad municipality, Dr. Emil Karaivanov, who helped realize the film. A special guest in the „The Holy town – Assenovgrad“ is His Majesty, King Simeon II Bulgarian, who shares his feelings and emotions from the time of laying the first stone of the newest church in the city dedicated to Saint Archangel Michael in 1996. The laying of the main stone of the temple is deeply connected with the history of Bulgarian and personally with Simeon II, because that is the time when he returns to his homeland after nearly fifty-year exile.
The author of „The Holy town – Assenovgrad“ Angel Bonchev is 34 years old journalist in bulgarian Tv Evropa. Last 13 years he is a news anchor in the television. Last 6 years he created some of the best Bugarian orthodox documentaries: „The wonderworker Saint Nektarios“, „The Holy town – Assenovgrad“ and „The Holy surgeos Luka“. Angel Bonchev wrote a book for children dadicated to saint Luka of Simferopol and Crimea „Saint Lukas the doctor“.
